Built a Bitbucket Cloud integration that runs AI code review from the browser sidebar on any pull request on bitbucket.org. ThinkReview opens inside the PR view, scores quality, flags security issues, and lets you ask questions about the diff before you post anything as a comment.
What shipped:
- Browser extension entry points (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave) that detect Bitbucket Cloud PR pages and inject the review sidebar.
- API token flow: users paste a Bitbucket API token once in the portal or extension settings, and the extension authenticates against bitbucket.org on demand.
- Review actions: quality score, security notes, suggestions, diff Q&A, summaries, and a “post as comment” gate so nothing lands on the PR until the reviewer confirms.
- Routing for Bitbucket Data Center users to a separate lander and docs, since the Cloud extension does not cover self-hosted.
How Cursor helped:
- I used Cursor to draft the Bitbucket Cloud PR page detection logic and the sidebar component shell, then iterated on the diff parser with inline chat. The agent was useful for catching edge cases in Bitbucket’s PR DOM (file tree, unified vs split diff, comment threads) that I would have missed reading the docs alone.
- For the API token flow, Cursor helped me sketch the OAuth-vs-token tradeoffs and the per-request auth header shape so I could validate against a real Bitbucket Cloud workspace quickly.
The extension installs in under a minute, no admin or pipeline changes. It also runs against Ollama or an Enterprise Gateway if you don’t want cloud inference.
