I wanted my own Claude Code setup (skills, MCP servers, files) reachable from my phone, ideally from WhatsApp or Telegram. Here is what exists today, as far as I can tell. Disclosure: I built one of the four (Angelia), so I'll also say where the others are the better choice.

1. Remote Control (built in) claude --remote-control, or /rc in a running session. The session shows up in the Claude app and at claude.ai/code, and it still runs on your machine. Best if you just want to keep steering one coding session. Needs a Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan; API keys don't work. It's not a chat app, and it's just you.

2. Official channels: Telegram, Discord, iMessage (research preview) For Telegram, make a bot with BotFather, then inside Claude Code:

/plugin install telegram@claude-plugins-official /telegram:configure <token>

Exit, and start it again with the channel on:

claude --channels plugin:telegram@claude-plugins-official

Message the bot, approve the pairing code with /telegram:access pair <code>, then lock it down with /telegram:access policy allowlist. Permission prompts get relayed to the chat. Messages only arrive while that session is open, and every chat feeds that one session.

3. WhatsApp: a community plugin There's no official WhatsApp channel. The most starred plugin I found (Rich627/whatsapp-claude-plugin, about 100 stars) links your WhatsApp as a linked device and works as a channel; Claude replies from your own number. It needs --dangerously-load-development-channels, because --channels doesn't accept it yet. Same one-session model. WhatsApp can ban numbers that act like bots, and with the plugin that's your personal number.

4. Angelia (mine) A small background program on a Mac. Each WhatsApp or Telegram chat gets its own folder, instructions and session, and it starts your CLI for it (Claude Code, also Codex, Grok Build, pi). Risky commands wait for an owner's "yes" in the chat. Downsides: macOS only for now, WhatsApp needs a second number, the Mac has to stay on, and it's young (v0.3, one maintainer).

What Remote Control Official channels WhatsApp plugin Angelia
Chat in Claude app Telegram, Discord, iMessage WhatsApp WhatsApp, Telegram
Sessions One per process (more in server mode) The one open session The one open session One per chat
After a reboot You restart it You restart it You restart it Starts at login

When not to use mine: you only want to watch a coding session (Remote Control), you live in Discord or iMessage (official channel), you're fine with one session on your own WhatsApp number (the plugin), you pay with a Console API key (channels accept it), or you're on Linux or Windows.

What did I miss? And is anyone running channels 24/7? How do you keep the session alive?
