bcb-br-mcp:在 Cursor 中接入巴西央行数据(Selic、IPCA、汇率、Focus、PTAX),每个答案都带数据来源
Original title: Bcb-br-mcp — Brazilian Central Bank data (Selic, IPCA, FX, Focus survey, PTAX) inside Cursor, with provenance on every answer
The title and summary in the selected language are awaiting translation.
If you build anything that touches the Brazilian economy — pricing, fintech, reports, research — your agent eventually needs the official numbers from the Banco Central do Brasil: the Selic rate, IPCA inflation, exchange rates, GDP, credit aggregates, the Focus market-expectations survey and the PTAX reference rates.
bcb-br-mcp is an open-source MCP server that gives Cursor those numbers straight from the BCB’s public APIs, with 17 tools and no API key.
Add it to Cursor — .cursor/mcp.json in your project (or the global one):
{
"mcpServers": {
"bcb-br": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "bcb-br-mcp"]
}
}
}
Or point Cursor at the hosted endpoint, nothing to install:

What you can ask the agent
- “What is the current Selic rate and the accumulated IPCA over 12 months?”
- “Give me the USD/BRL PTAX for every business day of March 2026.”
- “What does the Focus survey expect for IPCA in 2026 and 2027?”
- “Deflate this series of nominal revenue to constant 2025 reais.”
- “Compare credit to households and credit to companies since 2020.”
Why I built it instead of letting the model call the REST API directly
The BCB APIs have sharp edges that silently produce wrong numbers: the time-series endpoint caps daily series at 10 years and returns an HTML page with HTTP 200 for unknown codes; ultimos/N returns some series newest-first and others oldest-first; price indexes (IPCA, IGP-M) are published as monthly rates, so “last minus first” gives nonsense (it reported +23.8% for IPCA 2024 when the real figure was 4.83%); the PTAX endpoint wants dates as MM-DD-YYYY and returns zero rows, not an error, otherwise. The server handles all of that on its side.
Every response carries a provenance block: the series, the period, the canonical URL that reproduces the query, the real extraction timestamp and the licence (ODbL). What the BCB published comes out verbatim; anything computed (variation, correlation, deflation) is marked as derived, with the convention used.

- Tool descriptions are in Portuguese (the users are mostly Brazilian); the agent handles them fine in English prompts.
Happy to hear what other Brazilian public data you would want an agent to reach.
